Summary

Description
English: Tesori, 5688 Main Street, Williamsville, New York, August 2020. Now home to a secondhand furniture store, this building was designated as an official Village of Williamsville historic landmark in 2014 as a good example of Arts and Crafts-style commercial architecture adapted to the form of an automobile dealership, of which Williamsville's Main Street featured many in the mid-20th century. Specifically, the wide façade dominated by floor-to-ceiling windows is a representative feature of dealerships of the era, but here you also have an interesting roofline where a central sloping element covered in tile presents a "rustic" contrast to the two gabled parapets along each side. 5688 Main Street was built in 1946 as the first home of Glen Campbell Chevrolet, who moved in 1949 to a site further west along Main Street, just outside the village boundaries where the Walker Center is located now. By 1956 the building was owned by the Ford Motor Company and operated as a training school for service technicians; other tenants over the years have included Shirley Manson Interiors (1979-2001) and D. K. Benson Interiors (through 2012). Tesori opened in 2013.
