Summary

Description
English: StuG III Ausf. G assault gun/tank destroyer on display at the General George S. Patton Museum of Leadership at Fort Knox, KY. The StuG was donated in the 90s after being retrieved from a Russian swamp by locals in 1995. The locals damaged the turret ring in the process of pulling it out. The StuG was bogged down sometime in 1944 and abandoned by its crew, leaving it completely submerged except the barrel. The nature of the bog environment preserved the vehicle's exterior 'zimerit' anti-magnetic finish and hull extremely well with traces of its original camouflage paint and surface coating present. it remains on display as of May, 2022.
