English: Queen Regent Maria Cristina presides over the State opening of Parliament of 1834, in the Spanish Chamber of Peers (on that occasion it was located inside the Casón del Buen Retiro). The Queen regent sits beside the empty chair of her daughter Isabella II, who was only 3 years old at the time.
