Description

The river Saltina, contained and hemmed in by embankments in what I began to think of as a very Swiss sort of way.

Not far from this spot, there is a... I don't know the right words, a water-level-reading station. Thingie. There was a little glass booth where you could see a paper drum and a pen that created an automatic line graph of the river level, going back maybe a couple of weeks. This was attached to a long steel arm hanging out over the water which took the water level reading by means of radar, according to a helpful and informative sign. Which was really pretty cool, as I kind of thought radar existed solely for the purpose of hindering road trips.

Also, I suspect that one of the ways in which I am readily identifiable as an East Coast girl is the ease which with I am thrilled by the sight of mountains hiding their heads in the clouds. Oregon always gets me this way too.
