Description TITIANA, Solomon Islands (April 16, 2007) U.S., New Zealand and Australian service members board Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron 10’s SH 60F Sea Hawk helicopter to administer medical aid in outlying areas of the Solomon Islands. The helicopter and crew is deployed aboard USNS Stockham (T-AK 3017), which is in the Solomon Islands to facilitate the U.S. Department of State and non-governmental organizations humanitarian assistance operation. On April 2, an 8.1 magnitude earthquake and resulting tsunami struck the Solomon Islands, causing casualties and significant damage. USNS Stockham is one of 16 U.S. Navy Maritime Pre-Positioning Ships and is part of Military Sealift Command’s Pre-Positioning Program and has a mixed crew of U.S. Navy personnel and Merchant Marine seamen.
