Summary

Description
English: View of interlocking machine control panel inside the Promenade Street Interlocking Tower, Providence, Rhode Island. Tower built 1909 by the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad. The all-relay interlocking machine was built by Union Switch & Signal Co. and installed in 1946 (replacing an earlier electro-mechanical machine). Tower later operated by Penn Central and Amtrak; closed in 1986. Cropped photo.
