The classically styled freestone Adelaide General Post Office (GPO building) was constructed in the late nineteenth century and housed both the post and telegraph offices which connected Australia with the world. The building is in the North West corner of Victoria square, with an entrance facing King William Street, Adelaide. The clock was installed in Victoria tower in 1875, dating this image to the late 1870s.
