The NASA website hosts a large number of images from the Soviet/Russian space agency, and other non-American space agencies. These are not necessarily in the public domain.
The SOHO (ESA & NASA) joint project implies that all materials created by its probe are copyrighted and require permission for commercial non-educational use. [2]
This is not the Sputnik-1 signal. There are a number of authentic recordings of the signal that can be found on Sputnik 1 in the external links. Please don't link this into the article on Sputnik-1. It is not Sputnik-2 or 3 either, so nobody really knows what it is. It does appear to be some kind of PDM signal, maybe from a Soviet spacecraft.
