Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) The image supports commentary in a section dedicated to the song's 1967 promotional film, which has been recognised as a pioneering work in the medium of music video. In particular, it demonstrates the Beatles' adoption of facial hair, representing their new look and a departure from the band's established "moptop" image, and the surreal aspect of the promo clip in which for the first time they avoided any attempt at performing the song they intended to promote. Journalist and broadcaster Joe Cushley describes the clip as "Lewis Carroll goes to Liverpool", while Mark Hertsgaard highlights this outdoor table scene as one of the most effective moments in a film in which the images instead "amplify or somehow comment on" the song's themes.
