Summary

Description
English: An old oyster shell on the beach among slipper limpets and mussels at Hampton-on-Sea, Herne Bay, Kent, England. The objects on the beach are as found, and were not rearranged before photographing; however the photograph has been cropped and colour-adjusted. Oyster shells are regularly washed up by the sea onto this beach. This site was once owned by The Herne Bay Hampton and Reculver Oyster Fishery Company (1864-1884), and the area has a history of oyster fisheries as far back as Roman Britain.
