Summary

Description
English: Pictured are Swedish Corvette HSwMS Karlstad and Royal Navy Merlin helicopter taking part in a surface exercise with partnering NATO warships whilst participating in BALTOPS 20.

On Friday 12th June 2020, Royal Navy ships took part in a surface engagement exercise (SURFEX) with NATO ships whilst on BALTOPS 20.

The NATO exercise which takes place each year will see various countries take part in gunnery serials, man overboard exercises, air defence and anti-submarine exercises, and not to mention close proximity sailing.

The Visby class is the latest class of corvette to be adopted by the Swedish Navy after the Göteborg and Stockholm-class corvettes.

The ship's design heavily emphasizes low visibility, radar cross-section and infrared signature.
