Nota del autor: puede encontrar ciertas incorrecciones en el mapa ya que hay algunas CCAA que no han desarrollado ningún plan de comarcalización oficial (o bien han desarrollado varios, sin ser ninguno de ellos «oficial»), por lo que la comarcalización de España puede variar de un mapa a otro. Esta es solo una versión.

  • CCAA que sí tienen un plan de comarcalización oficial: Andalucía (64), Aragón (33), Baleares (9), Cantabria (10), Cataluña (42), Euskadi (20), Galicia (53), C. Madrid (9), Navarra (14), La Rioja (12), C. Valenciana (35)
  • CCAA que tienen varias comarcalizaciones: Asturias (12 en el mapa), Extremadura (31 en el mapa), R. Murcia (11 en el mapa)
  • CCAA que no tienen comarcalización oficial: Canarias (9 en el mapa), Castilla-La-Mancha (38 en el mapa), Castilla y León (75 en el mapa. Sólo una, El Bierzo, está reconocida oficialmente en CyL)

Además, la institución comarcal entra en conflicto con otras configuraciones terriotirales tradicionales (más antiguas) del mismo nivel: cuadrillas en Álava, cabildos en Canarias, merindades en Navarra, mancomunidades en Extremadura, etc.
