Summary

Description
English: If the span-wise lift distribution was simply proportional to the span-wise chord distribution, a trapezoidal (finite) wing would generate the above lift distribution. Unfortunately, this is never observed. The lifting-line theory allows us to predict the effective, truncated lift distribution.
