Summary

Description

"Kiss me quick", a humorous Currier and Ives print that would have been considered slightly naughty at the time...

Caption: "Children, this is the third time within an hour that I have placed your hats properly on your heads. -- There!!"

(There were also a song and a hat style titled "Kiss Me Quick".)
Date The clothing styles suggest the 1840s to me; however Baragwanath suggests the late 1850s (in which case, the fact that the woman is not wearing "hoops" / crinoline would be due to her status as an employed governess or nanny, though some women even lower on the social scale did sometimes wear hoops at that time).
Source Composite scan; the colors are from the reproduction in 50 Currier & Ives Favorites with text and commentaries by Albert K. Baragwanath (ISBN 0-89660-007-6)
Author Unknown work-for-hire artist for publishers Currier and Ives (152 Nassau Street, New York City)
