Summary

Description
English: Exhibition Installation images from the 2014 solo exhibition of Anthony White at Le Pavé D'Orsay.Le Pavé D’Orsay is proud to present the work of Australian painter Anthony White in his first Parisian solo show. Having gained a reputation for producing materially dynamic abstract paintings in Australia,White continues to produce innovative process-based paintings from his Paris studio. Le Pave D’Orsay presents a survey of the artist’s practice from the years 2008-2014, including collages and two distinct suites of abstract paintings.

From the period of 2008-2010 White received multiple travelling scholarships. The experience of artist residencies in Paris, Vermont and Leipzig provided exposure to new cultures and interaction with a diverse range of international artists, confirming his affinity with art brut and modernism, and researching an aesthetic associated with tribal culture and mark making. White’s practice is concerned with how the role of gesture relates to art objects, and how they operate as functional items in indigenous societies and how

this differs from art objects of the west.
