Text Appearing After Image: son of Otto S. Gaeth and JosephineLindhardt. His parents joined theChurch when he was six years ofage and he was baptized by his fa-ther on August 27, 1913. The familymoved to Utah in April, 1919. Elder Gaeth was set apart on May11, 1926, by Apostle David O. Mc-Kay as a missionary to the Ger-man-Austrian Mission, where he la-bored for 36 months, during the lastyear as general superintendent ofauxiliary organizations. On May 19, 1929, after Elder Gaethhad been released from the German-Austrian Mission and was preparingto spend six months in the Swiss-German Mission, delivering illus-trated lectures on Utah and the Mor-mons, he was called by Pi-esident John A. Widtsoe of the EuropeanMission to go to Prague, Czechoslo-vakia, to investigate conditions andgain permission for the opening ofa mission of the Church in that land.The investigation proved that thetime was ripe for the inaugurationof the work of the Lord in thatland and on July 24, 1929, PresidentWidtsoe, President and Sister Hy-
