Description

Templo dos sécs. XV a XXI da Ordem de Santiago composto por uma única nave com paredes de alvenaria. Em 1487 é Igreja Paroquial sendo elevada a Igreja Matriz em 1521, após a formação do Município, com D. Manuel I. O actual aspecto da Igreja, resulta dos arranjos efectuados entre 1835 e 1850. Em 1910 é encerrada ao culto, reabrindo posteriormente no ano de 1929. Na fachada principal, um Portal Renascentista - sécs. XV/XVI, que apresenta no lintel as insígnias da Ordem de Santiago. Do período Barroco, os azulejos, destacando-se os painéis de azulejos historiados da Capela-Mor. A pintura da abóbada Neoclássica é do pintor francês - Mestre Pierre Bordes, actualmente descaracterizada após obras efectuadas em 2001.
