Summary

Description
English: Hampton Court - 1 The castle has a rich history, dating back to before the 15th century. Left to decay for many years until 1994, when the Van Kampen family purchased it and spent huge amounts of money restoring the building and gardens. The conservatory (in the front of this picture) was designed by Joseph Paxton in 1846, six years before he went on to design Crystal Palace for the Great Exhibition. His original ridge-and-furrow roof collapsed in the early 1900s, but the building has been tastefully restored. The current owner is Graham Ferguson Lacey, the Isle of Man-based property developer.

The castle is not open to the public, but the gardens and orangery tea room are a popular attraction.
