| Description | Gosport Waterfront Baptist Church, Buildings 2 and 3 at East Range at former Cooperage, Royal Clarence Victualling Yard, Weevil Lane, Gosport, Borough of Gosport, Hampshire. When the former Stoke Road Baptist Church in Gosport town centre closed in 2011, the congregation moved temporarily to another building on the Royal Clarence Victualling Yard site before acquiring these two Grade II-listed late 18th-century building which were part of the Royal Navy's former rum cooperage. The church's name was changed to its present title accordingly. The history of Baptist worship in Gosport goes back to the mid-18th century. |
