Español: El lienzo, con el que su autor obtuvo el primer premio en el concurso de la 1ª clase de la Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando en el año 1796, muestra a Manuel de Godoy, valido del rey Carlos IV de España, como artífice de la paz firmada entre España y Francia en el tratado de Basilea, que fue suscrito por ambos reinos en 1795. Godoy aparece luciendo la venera de la Orden del Toisón de Oro y el manto de la Orden de Carlos III, y presenta la Paz, en forma de rama de olivo, al rey Carlos IV, y a la izquierda el dios pagano Mercurio, que representa al diplomático Domingo de Iriarte, anuncia la paz a los ejércitos españoles y franceses.
