Title
Fortuna huiusce diei statue
Description
  • English: head of the statue of Fortuna huiusce diei. The devotional staue in the Temple of Fortuna Huiusce Diei is an acrolith with the uncovered parts in marble and the drapes in bronze. The image has been reassempled as a free-standing figure holding the divinity's symbol, a cornucopia, in her right hand. The sculpture was meant to be 8 meters heigh, according to the temple's proportions. The colossal fragments of the statue, such as the head, the right arm and the feet, date back to 101 BC, when the temple was founded, and they give importance evidence of the classical style of that period. The work has been attributed to Skopas Minor, a Greek artist based in Rome. From the Sacred area in Largo Argentina (1925).
  • Italiano: testa della statua della Fortuna huiusce diei. La statua di culto del Tempio della Fortuna huiusce diei era lavorata con la tecnica dell'acrolito: le parti scoperte in marmo, i panneggi in bronzo.
