Summary

Description
English: Falling from Pride It was perhaps unfortunate that the name "Pride Park" was chosen for the redevelopment area that was occupied by the old railway works at Derby and that the title was then displayed over the door of this building with its broken windows and unkempt surroundings. Perhaps it is symptomatic of how modern Britain treats anything old, whether animate or inanimate. In 1839, however, the lower two floors and the clock tower would have shown pride in Derby, as they were the offices of the North Midland Railway, one of three railways terminating in Derby that in 1844 amalgamated to form the Midland Railway. The top floor was added by the LMS in the 1930s. It is believed that this building and the early engine shed behind it have recently been taken over and refurbished by the local university.
