Summary

Description

ex-RAF 1936 de Havilland DH.87B Hornet Moth at the 2018 Cotswold Airport Revival Festival, Gloucestershire, England.

Delivered to Fairey Aviation in 1936 as a company hack. Was first aircraft ever to land at the newly built Manchester Airport in May 1937. Taken by the RAF at the outbreak of WW2 and used by No 3 Coastal Patrol Flight from 1940 to patrol coastal waters and scare U-boats into diving by their presence. Then to RAF St Athan (for I don’t know what use), then to Vickers Armstrong in 1945 as a company transport, then to the Shuttleworth Trust for 34 years. Finally to David and Sylvia Weston in 2005.
Date Taken 29th September 2018.
Source My own photograph, taken with a Nikon D5300 DSLR and Nikon 18-200 mm lens.
