English: Chart showing the infections and deaths from dipheria in Colchester in 1901. Upper section: Patients treated at home; Lower section: Patients treated at the infection hospital. Dotted line indicates rthe date at which treatment with antitoxin was introduced for those in hospital. The mortality rate declined from 25.9 to 5.8% after this date. From: Graham-Smith, G.S. (1902).
