Summary

Description
English: Photo of Denny Blaine Park, taken in May 1903 as part of the expedition by Olmstead Associates to plan the the Olmstead System of Parks and Boulevards for the City of Seattle. At that time, the park was unnamed, located at the end of Whitman Place (since renamed to Denny Blaine Place).

This photo shows an existing seawall structure and a wharf (since removed) that was already in place by the time of John C. Olmsted's visit in May 1903. Olmsted referred to this location as the water terrace located at the north end of the Denny-Blaine Lake Park subdivision in the 1903 Olmstead Report to the Seattle Parks Commission. This park location was also marked on the map of Olmstead System of Parks and Boulevards.

This photo also shows the level of Lake Washington against the seawall before the shoreline was lowered by 9 feet following the completion of the Montlake Cut, after which the current beach below the seawall was exposed.
