Description
English: Day and Night - George's Dock Ventilation Station Located between the Port of Liverpool Building and The Strand is the Art Deco George's Dock Ventilation Station and Tunnel Offices. Designed by Sir Basil Mott and J. A. Brodie with Herbert J. Rowse as architect it takes the form of a stylised obelisk. These statues set in fluted niches on either side of the west doorway are of day and night, carved from black basalt, they are symbols of the never-closing Mersey Tunnel.
