Deutsch: Der Obelisk stellt die sogenannte keltische Säule dar, die in Pfalzfeld 1649 gefunden wurde. Die Farben sind ein Hinweis auf die Zugehörigkeit Pfalzfelds zur Niedergrafschaft Katzenelnbogen bis zum Ende des alten Reiches.
Das Wappen der Ortsgemeinde Pfalzfeld zeigt eines der bedeutendsten erhaltenen Grab- und Kulturdenkmäler des 5./4. Jh. V.Chr. nordwärts der Alpen. Der hessische Geschichtsschreiber Johann Just Winckelmann hatte die Säule kurz nach dem Dreißigjährigen Krieg am 15. Juli 1649 auf dem mit Dornen und Sträuchern bewachsenen Friedhof des sehr verwüsteten und gänzlich unbewohnten Pfalzfeld entdeckt. Heute steht das Original im Rheinischen Landesmuseum in Bonn. |
