English: Coundon station (remains), 1991. View eastward, towards Spennymoor and Ferryhill: ex-North Eastern Ferryhill - Bishop Auckland branch, the line running behind the surviving house. The station closed to passengers 4/12/39, when the service was withdrawn between Bishop Auckland and Spennymoor (to Ferryhill 31/3/52. Coundon closed to goods in 5/48, but freight traffic continued through until 9/56. |
