Summary

Description
English: Castles of Munster: Liscarroll, Cork Sir Philip Percival acquired this 13c castle fortress from the Barrys during the 1620s. After a 13 day siege of the castle in 1642 by a Confederate army under Gerald Barry, the castle was immediately retaken by Lord Inchiquin. The loss of the curtain wall on either side of the gatehouse, and the near total destruction of the SE tower was the result of a Cromwellian bombardment by Sir Hardress Waller in 1650, and the subsequent slighting.
