Summary

Description
English: Calvary Episcopal Church, 20 Milton Street at South Cayuga Street, Williamsville, New York, August 2020. Though the congregation may be among the village's oldest, founded c. 1819 according to some sources, the building dates only to 1952: it's the work of architect Robert North, working in a hybrid of the Tudor and Late Gothic Revival styles, salient features of which include narrow round-arched windows piercing a façade of ashlar and yellow granite, steeply-pitched roof gables including half-timbering on some elevations (partially visible behind some foliage at left in this photograph), and a detached bell tower facing Milton Street whose belfry features still more round-arched windows. The church was named a designated historic landmark by the Village of Williamsville Historic Preservation Committee in 2014 as an outstanding example of midcentury church design, was declared eligible for the National Register of Historic Places in 2018, and is a contributing property to the proposed South Cayuga Road Historic District.
