English: Transfer freight near Burton-on-Trent Station. View NE, towards Burton station, Derby and Nottingham; ex-Midland Bristol - Birmingham - Derby etc. main line. (For details, see SK2423 : Up 'Devonian' express leaving Burton-upon-Trent). This short goods train had not even a brake-van, although - being at Burton - it included a wagon carrying two large beer-barrels. The locomotive is unusual, being a Hughes/Fowler 5P4F 2-6-0 fitted with unconventional Reidinger poppet valve-gear, No. 42818. |
