Summary

Description
English: Left alone, the sender produces a continuous 'carrier wave' of radio frequency energy. In order to broadcast an amplitude modulated signal, the high voltage supply to the sender must be boosted or reduced in synchronisation with the audio signal to be sent. This was accomplished using large transformers.
