Though the pattern in this image and the image itself are subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws. Additionally, this use appears to meet all the requirements of the non-free content policy, specifics follow: - A freely licensed equivalent (as in the photograph) could be taken, however the freeness of the tartan design as a clan/family symbol would still be at question.
