English: Richmond Folk Festival 2015

Andre Veloz (center) is a singer from the Dominican Republic based in New York City. Her musical specialty is "bachata," a style originating in the Dominican Republic and first recorded in the 1960s. Historically considered music of the lower class, it is now seeing and increase in popularity thanks to artists such as Veloz and others in NYC. Audiences at the RFF were reported to be dancing in the aisles.
On the right is bachata guitar virtuoso Frank Mendez.

Joining Veloz and Mendez in the Amargue Bachata Quintet are Pin Bencosme (guitar), John Chapman (bass), Ernesto Maldonado (congas, bongos), and Joel Guzmán (güira).
