um-moned to the White House a chi-ropodist to administer to them. Dr.D. J. M. Hogan, of Albany, presidentof the New York State PodiatrySociety, told 350 chiropodists yes-terday at the annual meeting of thePodiatry Society of the State of NewYork in the Hotel Pennsylvania. So happy was Mr. Lincoln to berelieved of his pain that a lastingfriendship was begun, said Dr. Ho-gan, who identified the chiropodistas Dr. Isachaar Zacharie. With thehelp of Dr. Zacharie the head of the nation was able to resume his ex-cursions and better grapple with theissues at stake, for Mr. Lincoln be-lieved that a man could think betterand act more wisely while on hisfeet. In recognition for his servicesthe President commissioned Dr.Zacharie chiropodist general to theUnited States Army. Another speaker, Dr. William W.Dornstreich, decried the changes inshoe construction during the lastfew years and blamed toeless shoesin particular for causing an in-creased number of chilblain casesanions women.
