Summary

Description

Edsel Ford introduced the Mercury in 1939 as a model to fill the gap between the basic Ford, and the luxury Lincoln. The Comet was built from 1960-77, initially, it was based on the Falcon. From 1966 it was based on the intermediate sized Fairlane and then from 1971 back to a compact, this time based on the Maverick. In 1967, the base model was again the 202 (2 and 4 door Sedan) , mid spec was now called the Capri (in 2 and 4 door Sedan), Wagons were the Villager and Voyager. The top model was still the Caliente (4 door Sedan, 2 door hardtop and Convertible). The performance model was the Cyclone and Cyclone GT (and GTA) The Cyclone was available as a 2 door Hardtop or Convertible.
