1810 watercolor sketch of woman in "Schute" bonnet and blue-striped empire-style dress with flounces, by Johann Adam Klein. (She's sitting on her red shawl to keep her dress clean, and has one glove pulled off.) Notice her arms -- too-thin arms were not admired in women during this historical period.
