Summary

Description
English: 1693 gravestone in the old kirkyard of. St Fergus A small gravestone, dated 1693, set into the wall of the ruined kirk at St Fergus among the coastal dunes. Vive Memor Lethi Fugit Horor is a quotation from Perseus and translates as Live mindful of death for time flies. The carved elements are symbols of mortality (crossed femurs, crossed sexton's tools, hourglass and skull) and of immortality (winged soul). These symbols are common on old Scottish gravestones.
