Tiếng Việt: 這批相片由台灣新生報記者於1973年4月12日拍攝，主題為越南共和國總統阮文紹夫婦來臺訪問。中華民國副總統嚴家淦夫婦、行政院長蔣經國、外交部長沈昌煥與總統府秘書長鄭彥棻等人在機場歡迎，隨後在阮文紹與嚴家淦一同校閱三軍儀隊，並與越南僑民握手致意。
1954年奠邊府戰役法國戰敗，法軍撤離越南，越南以北緯17度線劃分為北邊的越南民主共和國與南邊的越南共和國。美國擔心中南半島倒向共產主義，開始介入越南內戰。 臺灣由於冷戰與南越形成緊密連結，1965年後美國更積極介入越戰，臺灣成為美軍後勤基地，供美軍度假休息。中華民國雖然因為美國阻止沒有派遣國軍至越南，但仍派遣政治作戰顧問團、醫療隊、建設團來支援越戰。 相片拍攝時，南越與臺灣都處於危機之中。越戰使美國國力大傷，加上中共與蘇聯關係惡化，美國總統尼克森欲擺脫越戰泥沼，開啟中共與美國關係正常化的契機，1973年美軍撤出越南，1975年越南共和國滅亡。1970年代中華民國遭遇退出聯合國、與美國斷交等重大變故。 |
