Boyy, stylized as BOYY, is a luxury fashion brand specializing in handbags and accessories, established in 2006 by Jesse Dorsey and Wannasiri Kongman. The brand is known for its minimalist design and oversized buckle features[1]. BOYY has headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand, and a flagship store in Milan, Italy.

History[edit]

Established in New York City, Boyy is the brainchild of Jesse Dorsey and Wannasiri Kongman.[2] Without formal backgrounds in fashion, business, or design, the founders approached the creation of Boyy driven by creativity and ambition. Wannasiri Kongman, who moved to the United States in 1999 with a degree in Journalism, and Jesse Dorsey, a former musician, DJ, and producer from Montreal, met in 2004. Their shared vision for the brand led to its establishment and subsequent relocation to Milan and Bangkok, incorporating influences from each city into the brand’s identity.[3]

Design Philosophy[edit]

The brand's early recognition was partly due to its innovative design approach, notably with the introduction of the Wonton 20 Balloon handbag, inspired by puffer jacket aesthetics. This design philosophy, focusing on minimalism and functionality, played a crucial role in BOYY's positioning within the luxury fashion market. The visibility of Boyy products was further enhanced by their adoption by public figures such as Chloë Sevign.[4]

In response to the expansion of their brand, Kongman and Dorsey introduced the Index series, described as a platform for creativity and experimentation without predefined rules.[5] This collection illustrates Boyy's commitment to innovative design paired with craftsmanship, striving for a synthesis of originality and timeless appeal.

Product Range[edit]

Boyy offers a wide range of products, including handbags, wallets, and small leather goods, known for their seasonal refreshes[6] that introduce both classic and novel designs in line with the brand’s minimalist aesthetic.

Global Presence[edit]

Boyy has achieved international recognition, featured at fashion events such as New York Fashion Week[7] and in various fashion publications. Notable individuals, including Jennifer Lopez[8] and Sarah Jessica Parker[9], have been seen with BOYY products, contributing to the brand's global appeal.

Flagship Store[edit]

In April 2023, Boyy expanded its physical presence with the opening of a flagship store in Milan, a collaborative effort with Danish artist FOS (Thomas Poulsen).[10][11]
