Al-Rahman (well names of Allah)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Most Merciful is one of the beautiful names of Allah related to Him alone, He has no partner, so every good for the servants is attributed to Him and His mercy, and the belief that what was sent down from His mercy is a measure and a small part of what Allah has subjected to His servants in Paradise, and what He has sent down of mercy is a mercy to all creatures of the jinn and mankind and of His creation whom we know We do not know them from animals and others.

Al-Rahman means abundance, meaning the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, includes all creatures without exception, so His mercy encompasses everything, and He is the Most Merciful of the merciful.

Mentioned in the Quran[edit]

This name is mentioned in fifty-seven places in the Qur’an,[1] Six of them are accompanied by with a name Al-Raheem, and he was not accompanied by with anyone else in the rest of the places. He said: He is Allah, then Whom there is La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He) the All-Knower of the unseen and the seen (open). He is the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. Surat Al-Hashr:22 And he said A revelation from the Compassionate, the Merciful. Fussilat:2.

Basmala[edit]

Three names of Allah are mentioned in the Basmala: Allah, the Compassionate, and the Most Merciful, and it is read at the beginning of every Surah, except for Surah At-Tawbah.

Surah Al-Rahman[edit]

A surah was mentioned in the Qur’an in the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, and it is one of the suras named after one of the most beautiful names of Allah.

Reported in the nib[edit]

Son of Masoud "An Ibn Masoud, on the authority of the Prophet, peace be upon him, he said:

There are three horses: a horse for the Most Merciful, a horse for man, and a horse for Satan. As for the horse of the Most Merciful, it is the one that binds for the sake of Allah, feeds, dung and urine, and mentions what Allah wills. As for the horse of Satan: it is the one who gambles or bets on it. They hide from poverty.

Polytheists and deny[edit]

  • The Qur’an mentioned the polytheists’ denial of the name of Allah, the Most Merciful: «‘And when it is said to them, "Prostrate to the Most Merciful," they say, "And what is the Most Merciful? Should we prostrate to that which you order us?" And it increases them in aversion." Al-Furqan :60’ And the Almighty Allah said: “Thus, have We sent you to a community before which [other] communities have passed on so you might recite to them that which We revealed to you, while they disbelieve in the Most Merciful. Say, "He is my Lord; there is no deity except Him. Upon Him I rely, and to Him is my return." Ar-Ra'd :30.”»
  • When he also denied Suhayl ibn Amr the name of Al-Rahman, the Most Merciful, in the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah: «When the Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, called Ali to take notes the writing agreement, so he dictated to it: In the name of Allah, the most gracious, the most merciful. and Suhail said: As for the Compassionate, by Allah, we don't know what it is the meaning of Rahman. But write: In your name, O Allah, so the Prophet, peace be upon him, commanded that; [4].»
  • Al-Sa'di said: «“They said” in denial and disbelief, “And what is the Compassionate?” with their corrupt claim that they do not know the Most Merciful, and they made among their censures against the Messenger that They said: He forbids us to take Allah with Allah, while he supplicates with him another Allah, saying: ‘O the most merciful’; »
  • The scholar Ibn Ashour says: «‘They used to say: Look at this Sabean (Apostate) forbidding us to call on two Allahs while he was calling on Allah and calling on the Most Merciful, and in that was revealed the Almighty’s saying: “Say, "Call upon Allah or call upon the Most Merciful. Whichever [name] you call - to Him belong the best names." And do not recite [too] loudly in your prayer or [too] quietly but seek between that an [intermediate] way.” Surah Al-Isra: 110 [6].’»

Characteristics[edit]

Rahman is a special name for Allah[edit]

“Rahman his own, He did not name anyone else by Him, as Allah, the most-highest, said: Say, "Call upon Allah or call upon the Most Merciful. Whichever [name] you call - to Him belong the best names." And do not recite [too] loudly in your prayer or [too] quietly but seek between that an [intermediate] way.  Surah Al-Isra: 110.”

Rahman includes the believer and the disbeliever[edit]

Abu Ali Al-Farsi said «Al-Rahman is a generic name for all kinds of mercy, which is specific to Allah Almighty, and Al-Rahim is only from the side of the believers, verily: ‘Gentle, kind and merciful to the believers.’ [8] ‘He asserted that Rahman was the most extreme exaggeration of mercy, for its generality in the two worlds for all of His creation, Indeed Taqwaa causes a believer to attain Allah's Mercy and this Mercy is for this life and the Hereafter. » He provides sustenance for the believer and the unbeliever and blesses them and reminds them of His blessing like the blessing of the night and the day: It is out of His Mercy that He has put for you night and day, that you may rest therein (i.e. during the night) and that you may seek of His Bounty (i.e. during the day), and in order that you may be grateful, and a blessing The rain said:And He it is Who sends the winds as heralds of glad tidings, going before His mercy, and We send down pure water from the sky.’

Mercy precedes anger[edit]

Allah’s mercy precedes His wrath, and respite for the disobedient and disbelievers precedes His punishment. The Prophet, peace be upon him, said:«“When Allah created the creation, He wrote in a fate of destiny (Qadr) that was placed under the Throne of the Most Merciful: “My mercy precedes My anger. »

Notes[edit]

  • Sa'eed Ben Jubeir and Amir al-Sha'bi said: «"The Merciful "Conquest Three Fences If They Were Gathered as Names from Names of Almighty Allah is “AL-Ra”, “Ham” and “N”, so let it read this “AL-Rahman”. »
  • Abdul-Rahman bin Nasser Al-Sa'di said: «Ar-Rahman, Ar-Rahim, Wal-bar, Al-Kareem, Al-Jiwad, Al-Rauf, Al-Wahhab - these The names have convergent meanings, and they all indicate the characterization of the Lord, with mercy, righteousness, generosity, and togetherness, and the abundance of His mercy and gifts that permeate all existence according to what it requires his wisdom and specifically the faithful ones, With the greatest share, and the most perfect fully, the Qur’an mentioned: And ordain for us good in this world, and in the Hereafter. Certainly, we have turned unto You." He said: (As to) My Punishment I afflict therewith whom I will, and My Mercy embraces all things. That (Mercy) I shall ordain for those who are the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) and give Zakat; and those who believe in Our Ayat   Surah Al-A’raf: 156 And blessings and charity, all from the effects of his mercy, his presence, and generosity. And the bounties of this life and the afterlife, are all from the effects of his mercy. »

Differentiate between All-merciful (Rahman) and the Merciful (Raheem)[edit]

  • A man is not called in the name of Rahman, meanwhile there is a man named Rahim. [2] So the Raheem may be for Allah and for other than Allah. You may say Almighty Allah is Merciful, and so-and-so is omniscient:
    وَكَانَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَحِيمًا

English: that He may bring you out from darknesses into the light. And ever is He, to the believers, Merciful.
(Quran: Surat Al-Aḥzāb:43)

So, Ibn Abbas said: «They are thin names, one is thinner than the other. » Abu Ali Al-Farsi said «Al-Rahman is a generic name in all kinds of mercy، Almighty Allah is unique to him, and the Raheem is on the one hand. believers, verily:

وَكَانَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَحِيمًا

English: that He may bring you out from darknesses into the light. And ever is He, to the believers, Merciful.
(Quran: Surat Al-Aḥzāb:43) Until he said: "The Rahman is the most exaggerated in mercy, for her generality in Darin (two homes) for all his creation, and Raheem Special for believers. »

  • Al-Rahim indicates the characteristic of the special mercy that believers receive only, but Al-Rahman both the believer and the disbeliever.
