This is a list of journalists killed in the Israel–Hamas war.

Journalists detained or missing

Date Name Description Ref.
October 7, 2023 Oded Lifshitz An Israeli journalist who wrote for Al HaMishmar and contributed to Haaretz was reported missing from Nir Oz in southern Israel. [1]
Haitham Abdelwahid A Palestinian photographer from the Ain Media agency was reported missing by the Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedom (MADA). [1][73]
Nidal al-Wahidi A Palestinian photographer from the Al-Najah channel was detained by the IDF, according to his family. [1][73]
October 15, 2023 Sabri Jaber A Palestinian journalist was detained by Israeli forces in a raid. [74]
October 16, 2023 Moath Amarnih A Palestinian journalist who was detained by Israeli forces from his home and placed in administrative detention under the accusation that he had incited violence through his work. There are reports of abuse by the Israeli captors. [75]
January 21, 2024 Mansour Shouman A Canadian-Palestinian journalist and aid worker from Calgary who went missing from Khan Younis. Following allegations he had been detained, he turned up alive on February 6, informing his social media followers that he had gone off the grid while hiding from the IDF. [76]
March 18, 2024 Ismail al-Ghoul Al-Jazeera Arabic journalist who was beaten and detained (along with his team) by the IDF during a raid on al-Shifa hospital. He was freed 12 hours later after calls for his release from Al-Jazeera, the CPJ, and the IPI. A member of al-Ghoul's team Samer Tarazi said the IDF took their IDs and phones and did not return them. March 19, 2024 Bayan Abusultan A North Gaza-based journalist who has not been heard from since March 19, when she tweeted about witnessing the IDF kill her brother. One user @Lolaa178 alleged Abusultan and her family were hiding. On March 27, Reporters Sans Frontières (RSF) raised concerns over Abusultan's disappearance. Ahmed El-Madhoun then corroborated the user's claim that she is alive, under siege, and in need of evacuation. [79][80]
May 4, 2024 Somayya Jawabreh A journalist based in the West Bank was detained and subsequently placed under house arrest and prevented from using her phone or the internet. [81]
